Instruction

Civilian ownership and use of firearms have precedent throughout American history. Learning about firearms safety and the basics of shooting used to be a widely shared experience for school-age children growing up in much of America, until urbanization made the presence of a firearms in private homes less common. Before urbanization, firearms were an essential tool for securing food (i.e., hunting game), for protection against predators in the wild and for defense against mortal harm in times of human conflict. During the American Revolutionary War, the association between privately owned firearms and defense against tyranny became intimately bound with America’s founding history and an inseparable part of the country’s enduring cultural heritage.

Today, many adults who may not have received some firearms safety education while growing up, or who would like to refresh their “rusty knowledge” about the safe and responsible handling of firearms, may not have a family member or friend to whom they can turn to learn the basics. That’s where I come in. As an NRA Certified Instructor – Pistol & Rifle, I share my knowledge about firearms safety and the fundamentals of shooting with beginners and “re-learners” on a private, referral-only basis.
